At UGA, engineering accounts for about 5% of degrees and the catalog leads with business, so an engineering or CS focus occupies a much smaller corner of a broader university. A student who wants an engineering- and computing-centered undergraduate experience belongs at Tech.

For business, UGA carries the deeper concentration. Business and marketing ranks as its single most-conferred field at about 30% of degrees, the largest area on campus, while business shrinks to about 9% of degrees at Georgia Tech, where engineering and computing run the show. UGA offers the more direct route for a business-forward undergraduate path; Tech suits the student who wants business sitting next to a technical core.

Their policies split. UGA requires SAT or ACT scores for first-year admission (it is not test-optional), and its enrolled middle 50% scored 1250–1420 on the SAT and 27–33 on the ACT. Georgia Tech went test-optional for its most recent class but will require the SAT or ACT starting with Fall 2027 applicants; its enrolled middle 50% scored 1370–1530 (ACT 31–35).
