Is it harder to get into UVA out of state?＋
Yes. As Virginia's public flagship, UVA admits Virginia residents at a significantly higher rate than out-of-state applicants. For the Fall 2025 entering class, the in-state admit rate was about 23.6% (4,092 admitted of 17,370 applicants) compared to 13.0% for out-of-state applicants (5,086 of 39,271) — roughly half the chance for non-residents.
