Baylor's enrolled first-years post higher test scores, a middle-50% SAT of 1190–1370 and ACT of 26–32, versus TCU's 1110–1330 and 26–31. Both run holistic reviews that lean hardest on your GPA and the rigor of your courses, so a strong transcript matters more at either than a single percentage point of admit rate.

Business anchors both, but it dominates more at TCU, where business and marketing claim about 33% of degrees through the Neeley School, the single largest field on campus. Baylor confers business at roughly 24% of degrees, still its top area but inside a more even spread. A student who wants business at the clear center of the experience finds a more concentrated pipeline at TCU; Baylor pairs a comparable business base with deeper health and life-sciences strength.

Baylor carries the heavier health-sciences load: the health professions make up about 20% of its degrees and the biological and life sciences another 11%, the second and third most-conferred fields. At TCU the health professions sit near 11% of degrees, behind business and communication. Both run pre-health advising, but Baylor's degree mix tilts harder toward the science-and-nursing track, so a pre-med or nursing student finds more of the campus pointed that way in Waco.

The sticker prices nearly match, about $67,756 in tuition and fees at Baylor and $66,610 at TCU, so aid decides the gap. TCU meets more demonstrated need, roughly 79% on average to Baylor's 71%, and its average need-based package runs larger at about $50,804 versus $44,891. Baylor spreads aid wider, though: about 56% of first-years receive need-based grants against 40% at TCU. Higher-need families often net more at TCU, while Baylor reaches a larger share of students.

Both admit Early Decision applicants at a higher clip than their overall rates, and TCU runs two binding rounds (ED I and ED II) to Baylor's single round. TCU admitted about 935 of 1,373 ED applicants in the most recent cycle, roughly 68%, while Baylor admitted about 453 of 566, near 80%. ED binds you to enroll if accepted, so apply that way only when the school is your clear first choice. Each also offers non-binding Early Action for an early answer without the commitment.

TCU runs the more Greek-defined social life: about 51% of men join fraternities and 61% of women join sororities, a central part of the campus. Baylor's Common Data Set does not report fraternity or sorority participation, so it carries no comparable figure. Baylor enrolls the larger student body, about 14,183 undergraduates to TCU's 11,152, and houses nearly everyone as first-years (98% on campus versus 96% at TCU).
